William E. Hines (1923-2000)
 
Bill Hines was a superb cinematographer and cameraman, whose credits extend across top movies and television shows.  Check out his filmography at IMDb.  He authored two books, Operating Cinematography for Film and Video: A Professional and Practical Guide and Job Descriptions for Film, Video and Cgi.
 
Bill Hines was:
  • I.A.T.S.E. Member of Board of Governors

  • Society of Operating Cameramen, 

  • (SOC) Member Board of Governors, 

  • Corporate Liaison Recipient Presidents Award (1995) 

  • Recipient Lifetime Achievement Award (Cammy) (1998)

  • He ran a regular monthly column, "Operating Tips", for several years in the union's ICG Magazine

  • Upon his death, an annual film scholarship fund was created through the Society of Operating Cameraman

  • He was a Film Craftsman Guild Charter member (1953), where he served 20 years on the Board of Governors, two terms as president

 
This collection consists of a great assortment of photographs, many of them "goodbye portraits" of his graduating class, Winter 1941.
