Hello, Parents and Students,
My name is Betty Laureano, I was born and raised in East Los Angeles. I am a Garfield Alumni Class of 1996. Proud to say this is my 25nd year working at Garfield High School. My career at Garfield started back in 1998 as a Color Guard Coach and Paraprofessional. At the same time, I was going to school to earn a Bachelor's Degree. I received my bachelor from the University of La Verne. Upon receiving my degree, I became a Substitute Teacher and only substituted long-term math positions. Shortly after, I obtained a Single Subject Mathematics Credential. I taught Math for a couple of years and I loved being a Math teacher, but another opportunity presented itself and I found myself working hard to obtain a second credential. I can now officially say I obtain two Clear Credentials, Single-Subject Mathematics and Special Education Mild to Moderate Credential. Due to having a Special Education Credential, I taught one year in an Autism Core Class. Following that year, I became an RSP Teacher. I was an RSP teacher for five years. The beauty of working as an RSP Teacher is that I'm worked with the same group of students since they first came to Garfield in the 9th grade. I learned to grow with them, and know them on a personal level. It has been a pleasure to offer services and guide them to complete high school requirements and a pathway to college. Currently I am back in the classroom as an SDC Mathematics Teacher.
I look forward in working with your son/daughter. Please if you have any question feel free to contact me by email at
