I am a mathematics teacher at Garfield High School since the fall of 2013.  I have taught Algebra 1, Geometry , Algebra 2, Financial Algebra 2 for the past seven years, and Transition to College Mathematics and Statistics (TCMS) for the past four years.  This year, I am teaching two senior classes, Financial Algebra 2, and four Transition to College Mathematics Statistics (TCMS) classes.  I am open for conversations and inquiries relating to classroom structure and classroom policies during the following office hours:

Thursday, 02/20/2025, Spring 2025 Student-Led Conference

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Student:

     I hope this message finds you well!  I am very delighted to invite you to join me on Thursday, 02/20/2025, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, for our annual Spring Student-Led Conference Night!  

     You will be greeted by me at the door, highlighted by your child's presentation, in which student shares information about classroom structure, such as classroom activities, homework assignments, and assessments; Furthermore, students will showcase and analysis portfolio of work through Schoology.  Students, please remember to bring your charged Chromebook.  Finally, students will discuss their successes and challenges and offer goals to meet their challenges.

     Students, in the event that you and your parents are unable to join me in my classroom, please send me the Student-Led Conference video to Schoology by 9:00 pm on Wednesday, 02/19/2025 for full credits.

     Anxiously anticipated for you to join our annual Spring Student Led Parent Conference Night!  Hope to see you in Room 137!!

     ¡Espero que este mensaje los encuentre bien! Estoy muy feliz de invitarlos a unirse a mí el jueves 20/02/2025, de 5:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m., para nuestra Noche anual de conferencia dirigida por estudiantes de primavera.
Los recibiré en la puerta, y su hijo presentará una presentación en la que compartirá información sobre la estructura del aula, como actividades en el aula, tareas y evaluaciones. Además, los estudiantes mostrarán y analizarán su portafolio de trabajo a través de Schoology. Estudiantes, recuerden traer su Chromebook cargada. Finalmente, los estudiantes hablarán sobre sus éxitos y desafíos y ofrecerán metas para enfrentar sus desafíos.
Estudiantes, en caso de que usted y sus padres no puedan unirse a mí en mi salón de clases, envíenme el video de la Conferencia dirigida por estudiantes a Schoology antes de las 9:00 p. m. del miércoles 19/02/2025 para obtener los créditos completos.

Student Led Parent Conferences Night, 02/18/2021

Students will be awarded by 50 extra credit points for hosting the Student Led Parent Conferences in which they will present our classroom structure and expectations, disclose students' academic performance and work habit,  and discuss students' academic accomplishments, as well as areas of improvement.  In addition, students will be awarded  20 extra credit points for completing one of the two files from the Schoology Materials, SLC_Distance_Learning_Spring_2021_English.docx or SLC_Distance_Learning_Spring_2021_Spanish.docx.

Beginning this Saturday, October 31st, Garfield High School will serve as the East Los Angeles Community of Schools Covid Testing Site. Hours this Saturday are 9am-3pm, and regular Monday through Friday hours are 7:15am-4:00pm (beginning November 2).
