Hello, and thank you for visiting my webpage!

 

My name is Ms. Flores, and I am proud to serve my community as an educator. I was born and raised in Boyle Heights but also spent much of my young life in East LA. I attended Malabar Elementary, Belvedere Junior High, and Roosevelt High School. I began my career in education as a Teacher's Assistant. I have worked at all grade levels, K-12, but soon realized that my preference was working with high school students.

 

While attending UCLA, I was a Teacher's Assistant at GHS where I learned that despite neighborhood rivalries, we are all part of the same community. After earning a BA in Psychology from UCLA, I worked as a substitute teacher with Montebello Unified, and later as an on-site Case Manager at a local LA County high school where I provided social service support to young mothers and mothers-to-be.

 

I began my teaching career at Roosevelt where I taught Special Day Class. After a few years, I decided to focus on raising my son and earning an MA in Research in Multicultural Psychology at CSULA. Seven years later, I returned to teaching as an English teacher. I have been back at Garfield since 2006. 

 

This year, I am teaching English, Introduction to Psychology, and Advanced Placement Psychology. I am looking forward to finishing this year successfully!
