My name is Mauricio Leal and I am currently teaching Algebra 2 and Algebra 1. I have been teaching for 29 years and have been at Garfield Senior High School since 2000. As a graduate of LAUSD, I know that our school system is a great one. I am looking forward to another great year at Garfield.

If I think of when I was in elementary school. I can honestly say that my favorite subject was mathematics. Therefore, when I was in high school and thinking of what my major would be in college, I knew that it had to be mathematics. I know that math can be challenging for some students and my goal is make every student that is in my class a better problem solver. Even if they don’t fully grasp every concept present the ability to analyze and solve problems will stay with them for the rest of their life.

I am looking forward to a great year with another group of awesome students. I know that this year will be different than other years but, I am confident that we will work together to make this year a great one.
