Welcome to Patacsilville
Hello students and families. My name is Mr. Dominic Patacsil and I'll be your teacher this year. This is my 15th year teaching Theater and English, and I've spent those years in East Los Angeles.
I started out as an English teacher at Garfield and have spent the past few years developing a Theatre Arts program on our campus. Over the past five years, I've directed 10 shows, including Black Butterfly... (Spring 2021), Stand and Deliver (December 2019) and Disney's Beauty and the Beast (May 2019). Beauty and the Beast was Garfield's first high school musical in twelve years! Videos of shows can be found in the Links section of this page (look to your left).
In addition to my directing duties, I am also the director of Garfield High School's Thespian Troupe 4651. The International Thespian Society is a high school theatre arts organization that honors students who have demonstrated excellence in theatre. There are chapters all over the world and I am proud to lead a chapter right here, in East Los Angeles. Many of my theatre students complete internships around Los Angeles with organizations such as Los Angeles Theatre Center and Center Theatre Group and have begun professional careers in the field. Additionally, Garfield alumni who have studied Theatre Arts have won various acting, technical, and playwriting awards.
Even though this year will bring many challenges, I am looking forward to working with all of you.
