Mariachi Los Alanos de Garfield High School.  First established in 1991 by Dr. David Kilpatrick, the program went through various Directors and about 9 years ago was in hiatus.  Three years ago the program was revived by Maira Solis and two years ago I became the Director.  When I took over we started as a group of 6 and it quickly grew in popularity and has now reached membership of over 35 students.  

     In our short time, Mariachi Los Alanos "El Orgullo del Este de Los Angeles," has grown in popularity and has represented the community of East Los Angeles at events such as Mariachi USA at the Hollywood Bowl, the Mariachi Conference at the University of San Diego and also at the Santa Cecilia Mariachi Festival in Boyle Heights.  Membership is open to all students.  Interested students should contact Mr. Gonzalez at [email protected]
