Mr. Manuel Alvarez
Welcome to James A. Garfield Senior High School! My name is Manuel Alvarez, and I am a proud Bulldog alumnus! I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, where I continue to reside and serve my community. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to develop strong relationships with colleagues and students with the common interest in fostering communities of resilience and academic achievement. I have worked in the field of education within the Los Angeles Unified School District for nearly thirteen years. My experience has been versatile and transformative in preparation for my current roles as a coach and educator. One of my most treasured discoveries throughout my experience in working with students and our communities is Students Run LA. This program has allowed me to coach students through the process of establishing and achieving their goals while training to complete the Los Angeles Marathon. As an educator, these experiences have also led me to seek and implement effective instructional strategies to better meet the needs of diverse learners.
