Greetings Garfield Bulldogs!

My name is Mr. Bustamante. I have been teaching English since 2001. I am a graduate of California State University where I earned a B.A in English. I hold master degrees (M.A.) in Classical Literature and Education from University of California Los Angeles and M.A. in Education.

I was born in East Los Angeles and am a graduate of Roosevelt High School class of 1984.I have worked in several LAUSD High Schools as well as LAUSD Charter Schools. I am committed to serving my community and inspiring the next generation of writers and thinkers. I am passionate about English and believe that every student has a voice that needs to be heard.

My hobbies include: Surfing, Triathlon, Music, Coffee, and Latin.

Welcome/¡Bienvenidos! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer vacation, and is as excited as I am to be starting this new year. My name is Mr. J. Bustamante and I want to extend a warm welcome to you from GHS, I couldn’t be more excited to get to know all of you. Please review the class syllabus in the “materials” section of schoology. On Monday 8/16/21 you need to bring your Chromebook, a notebook, and something to write with. I look forward to seeing all of you on time on Monday. ¡Que les pase un año maravilloso!
